Where to buy acoustic slat panels in Los Angeles (2026 guide)

From Max Media Walls, a Los Angeles shop that sells and installs acoustic slat panels.

Most acoustic slat panels sold online ship from far away in long boxes. In Los Angeles you can buy them locally, see the real finish first, and have them delivered and installed by the same team. Here is what to check, wherever you buy.

1. Real wood veneer, not printed foil

Cheaper panels use a printed wood-look film. It looks fine in photos and flat up close. Real veneer has real grain and catches the light on the sides of each slat. Ask whether the slats are finished on three sides, so the sides look right when you see the wall from an angle.

2. Felt backing

The felt between and behind the slats does the sound absorption. No felt means no acoustic effect, just a decorative wall. Ask for the NRC rating. Ours is 0.70.

3. Panel size

A 9 ft tall panel covers floor to ceiling in most LA homes with one piece and no horizontal seams. Shorter panels need stacking or leave a gap at the top.

4. Local stock and delivery

Long panels are awkward to ship and easy to damage. Buying locally means you can pick up or get them delivered by people who carry them inside, and replacements are easy if something goes wrong.

5. Install options

Slat panels go up with construction adhesive, or with nails onto battens. Many people do it themselves. If you'd rather not, check whether the seller installs and what it costs per panel.
